Furniture Utopia Hancock Shaker Village
furniture Utopia, which we first spotted Sight Unseen OFFSITE, is a minimalist collection created in collaboration with the Hancock Shaker Village and Mt. Lebanon Shaker Museum with 12 renowned international designers. A one-week workshop was conducted at two sites in Shaker preserved, allowing designers to access vast archives of objects, as well as a dialogue with the museum's curators.

Often considered the first minimalist, the Shakers and their furniture have inspired countless modernist and contemporary designers worldwide. However, their presence is limited to a small number in the US sites, and people rarely have the opportunity to interact and experience of these pieces in person.
The Utopia Furniture mission is to provide designers with direct exposure to the original Shaker artifacts, and therefore invited twelve designers from six countries to produce designs that reflect the ingenuity and Shaker aesthetic objects in modern forms.
