Island Home Architect - House Clingstone
103-year-old mansion Clingstone located on a rocky island in the Bay of Narragansett is owned by Boston architect Henry Wood. Although the wooden house with 360 degree views of the ocean is quite old and rough, it is still warm and beautiful. Three stories tall house has 23 rooms, including 10 bedrooms. Even if the house is quite expensive to maintain because it is made of wood, it still uses modern technology to reduce wage bills. Solar panels heat water, and a rooftop wind turbine produces electricity. Rainwater is collected in a tank of 3,000 gallons, then filtered, treated and pumped through the house to cleaning purposes. In addition, the house of Clingstone use the latest water filtering technologies in sea and most composting toilets update. [via freshome, NY]
