Conservatory of the 18th century transformed into a modern home
Located in Dublin, Ireland, this 18th century house, 2 storeys was run down and needs a complete overhaul. Kingston Lafferty Design transformed the landfill in a dream. Extensive structural works were necessary to support both existing and proposed structures and keep neighboring properties. The main goal of interior design was to maximize the available space and direct the natural light as much as possible in the existing property. The level of entire basement has been reduced to improve floor to ceiling height and the back garden was extensively excavated for the construction of a large veranda extension. A tiered garden has been designed to improve the quality of natural light entering the basement. Linear forms and materials create a contemporary space that beautifully juxtaposes the features in the period of the original property and the conservatory traditional.
