This 3,0 square foot beach house is designed by Hughes Umbanhowar Architects. It is nestled in the interstices between the waterfront and the road along a narrow land on the north coast of Jupiter Island, Florida. The house is designed in a modern style and is both a picturesque coastal cottage and a chic island villa. The house is divided on three areas: sleep, the play space and the space of contemplative life. Each segment is sensitive oriented to capture light and views. The sintered glass ceramic kitchen and dining room lends translucency and visual game two-storey play area facing south. The textured surface of the exposed area north sleep highlights the ancient wisdom of the worn stone, a suitable sensitivity to light an intimate space of the soft morning brewed and its concomitant tranquility. The pool on the roof to enjoy the view to the east and south. As seen above or below the imperious gesture of the pool provides a visual and visceral connection to the thin floating line from dusk to dusk, or the vast expanse twelve o'clock cerulean. During the day the cool azure water is transmitted and transmuted into the living area with integrated skylights in the bottom of the pool. The dynamic interplay of light and shadow invigorates the space below. Located on the beach, the house offers direct access to water, which reinforces the immediacy of the relationship with the site and the spontaneity of island life.
