The Smart Home 2010 - Renovated Chicago Greenest House
The Smart Home is greener on the Chicago located on the ground -from the Museum of science and industry. It is open to the public from 08, but was recently renovated by Midwest Living. The house is designed to reflect the lifestyle of a couple of empty nester and features, organic soft textures and colors fused with a contemporary style - and the unique green technologies for the 21st century. It shows that you can build the house that has large spaces for entertaining, a main room that serves as a retreat, a whimsical nursery / playroom for small-son to visit and an office in functional home on a city lot Chicago standard.
a highlight of the first floor is wood and polished concrete room dining table, made by Chicago designer Keelin Kennedy furniture, wood 100 years old bur oak that fell on the property of the Museum in 09. Chicago artist Terry Karpowicz also made a headboard, a coffee table and three tree bedside tables for use at home.
upstairs, greens and soft blues symbolizes a new beginning and renewed energy. The master bedroom and bathroom are designed as a personal retreat for the couple, with a bamboo bed with organic bedding. The main bathroom has a walk-in shower with beautiful glass tiles made from recycled wine bottles smooth sinks created from recycled porcelain, showerheads and low-flow dual flush toilets.
Throughout the home lighting design by GE Lighting helps broaden the mood of the interior design. Bring natural light from the outside using the new Energy Star CFL and LED bulbs, making the Smart Home to 75 percent more energy savings compared to incandescent bulbs.
