Modern house built in 1929 - Villa Savoye of Le Corbusier
Villa Savoye is one of the most important works Le Corbusier. In many ways, it defines the course that modern architecture was to take the 20th century. There were three series of restorations, but these days, it looks like the original. The villa is a weekend country house on a thin concrete ground with strip windows, a flat roof with a corner office and several curved walls. The design of the house goes against traditional codes of residential architecture, instead it is a representation of a new vision in the form of functional architecture. Vertical circulation is facilitated by ramps and stairs and the geometry of the house is designed to ensure that people move through the spaces they experience the harmony between architectural forms and the play of light.
