House with 10 SF Addition and seal glass together
Belyea Faigin residence is located between Ballard and Phinney Ridge. The house is a home for an artist Gary Faigin, his wife and their two children. Originally, it was the building of a 1936 years has been accompanied by a new three-story, 10 square feet. The lowest level is the studio of Gary, the middle level is the living / dining room and the top floor is another master suite. The original structure is connected to the addition by the glassy seal. The original siding beveled blade from outside to inside marking the transition between the old and the new. The new part is absolutely modern in its use of materials, the structure and details, but the roof and gable wood siding areas make sympathetic to the character of the old house. The concept allowed to use simple shapes, aluminum windows, bright paint colors and smooth but modest finishes. The addition allowwed the family to work, play and live in one place.
