Colorful Mid-Century Modern Home with Victorian touches
Textile designer Orla Kiely, who is now punctuated by his palette and distinctive patterns. The owner did not want to compromise the nature of Victorian home. The ground floor was originally two rooms; now it has been transformed into a continuous space. To compensate for a low ceiling, Team Kiely dug into the ground to create a real seat section below overlooking the garden. Kiely and Maxim Laroussi architect designed the kitchen unit. A checkerboard of closed cabinets and open shelves offer storage against the wall for Kiely collection of dishes, knickknacks, cookbooks, and small appliances. Each particular space seems not only because of the design and furniture, but also for textiles by the owner.
