Series 22 by Studio Bones Dessuant
studio bones Dessuant won the prestigious design competition, 1% Artistic, France, where they created a collection of furniture for the community center Sémard Neighborhood House in St. Denis. The art and design competition brief requested projects for new buildings under construction in the government and their winning collection included four tables, eight chairs, eight stools, and two kitchen carts. The idea behind Collection 22 was to help and improve the communal area / meeting in the community center.
Every piece was made by carpentry students at the Lycée Bartholdi school in Saint Denis, another step to help bring the community together. Working with students knowledgable, they were able to design parts with sophisticated carpentry.
Using traditional marquetry in a modern style, they have added another element of design for each piece giving them a graphic sensibility.
Each piece created, a logo was made on the basis of inlays on this work, which was then laser embossed on the bottom, and the names of each student who worked on it.
