Arsenal B47: An Army building into modern home
Ralph Germann architects have succeeded in transforming an old building of Swiss army constructed during the second World war, Arsenal B47, a large living space. How could they change a former space of the army in a modern life? They began to add a glass cube in the old structure, an option which meant the architect does not need to touch the patina walls, preserving the roof and some historical details. The second added cube was made of wood and was made to expand the space. To give a timeless atmosphere, the architects used, clean pure lines but the interior should not be boring, so we created several colorful fuchsia accents and a cloakroom. A large bay window, which can be hidden, ensures excellent lighting
