This sprawling Home Integrates Ruins 18th Century
The White House by WT architecture is on the Scottish island of Coll . The original stone house was built in the mid-1700s and was abandoned in the mid-1800s when the current owners inherited the building, they found roofless ruins with many cracks, but a structure base intact. The architects have advised clients to preserve the ruins and build living spaces around them. At the rear of the original building, new living spaces and bedroom generously extend into the landscape, with glazed surfaces to take in the scenery and stunning sea views. An H-shaped plan provides pockets of outdoor shelter on the exposed site. The interiors are kept lively and modern, and the views become part of the scenery due to the extensive glazing.
