Old Barn transformed into a modern house with unusual architecture
Dutch design studio Kwint Architecten recently completed a barn in the countryside, integrated residence in an existing vernacular structure south of the city of Eelde, Netherlands. An old barn has been converted into a residence with a fresh layer of horizontal wood blinds, allowing air to ventilate in a covered transitional space before entering inside. Hidden and integrated into the sheath, large French-style barn can be closed for private life or swung open to the light of day extra. The interior is minimalist combined with traditional; there are two levels. The living room is more traditional in furniture and design, while the kitchen and bathroom is minimalist. This is a cool example of an unusual architectural solution that is as functional and brings lots of fresh air and light in.
