David Trubridge Gets Inspiration From Under the Sea
innovative lighting designer David Trubridge like the sea as its theme latest collection of lighting that will be presented at light + Building in Frankfurt, Germany in March. Diatoms, microscopic creatures that are at the bottom of the food chain of the ocean to produce enough oxygen to our every fifth breath through photosynthesis, while removing more carbon from the atmosphere than all forests tropical world. In addition to being critical to the environment, they are quite beautiful, which makes them the perfect inspiration for a new line of LED lighting.

Navicula is one of microscopic diatoms floating around the oceans and form fluid light it reflects. Made of curved pieces of CNC cut bamboo plywood, light is designed to throw beautiful shadows. The segmented form comes in a kit that is assembled on site with plug nylon clips.

Asterola is another floating diatoms made of bamboo plywood clips, cork and nylon that ship flat-packed for facilitate assembly.
Formosa was designed as a light task that operates on a table or desk. The devices are made from bamboo plywood and polyethylene estimated that comes from recycled water bottles. Also delivered flat packed for assembly on site.
