Contemporary Mountain Refuge with Smart use of space in extreme weather
This house is designed by DRN architects (Nicolás Núñez del Rio and Max) and located in Farellones, Las Condes, Chile. It is built on 140 square meters site in the middle of a slope, 7.5 meters below the level of the road. There is not much vegetation to 00 meters high, but there are some trees around the house. The refuge is a monolithic volume of stone that not many window openings on the first level. Although there are windows that frame a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape. The upper volume is almost transparent and serves as an access area that acts as a lamp overnight.
The interior is made against plated-coating to a hot atmosphere to the interior. The first floor has 4 small rooms on the second floor has a common area with four areas for eating, playing, sitting and kitchen, and the third floor is for access and has enough space to store all this material of Mountain. The house is excellent example of the maximum use of space in extreme weather conditions
