Closse Residence: 1960 Stylish home improvement
In a suburban neighborhood of Montreal, this bright Closse residence was built by the father of the owner in the 1960s and its heritage features have been respectfully dressed in modern skin by naturehumaine architects. The exterior of the house has been restored and repainted and the windows were replaced. A contemporary dormer was added to the roof of the house containing two second floor bathrooms. The interior is now modern, even minimalist, yet brilliant personality. Removing original scores let light penetrate deep into the house. A new sculptural staircase built in hot-rolled steel, maple veneer, and the frosted glass becomes the focal point of the house. This is an example of changing an old house in a new economy of his character and the traits.
