A Veterans Dives Into Furniture Design Manufacturer
A Veterans Dives Into Furniture Design Manufacturer
first, boatbuilder turned furniture designer may seem strange, but as you think it makes more and more sense. With the furniture and the design of the boat, we must focus on comfort, shape, motion, and structural integrity. Asa Pingree, the constructor above, recently launched its new furniture design company this year. He uses his experience with boating and time spent on the coast of Maine to create furniture with unique silhouettes that fit in all environments.
Now located in Brooklyn, Asa combines simple, classic feel of Maine with sculptural elements inspired by New York. It also keeps the advice of his father in mind when designing, which is "keep it simple, stupid." The collection includes solid, timeless pieces made from American walnut, white oak, blackened oak or ash gray fog. Whether a lounge chair or even an exercise bench, all his pieces feature Asa's penchant for minimum design, tactile pieces.
