The house of 9 points by architects IBD is on a beautiful but problematic site on the south side of the Dandenong Ranges. The 4-acre site was one of the last in the wooded hills available for residential development. It was very difficult to access, if not build anything there. The house was built on the top of the site to catch spectacular views of the city. All steel home and only has 9 points of support. This allowed the most efficient structural design as well as to the main level of the house a perfect square, achieving the maximum floor area for minimum wall area. Large double glazed areas allow views from every room. The interior is a simple white space, which does not detract from the forest around. [ITN architects]
