K House - Unusual Beach House Interior with Red
Ashton Raggatt McDougall (ARM) Architects designed this house as Holiday beach house where they could retire to the family whose name begins with the letter "K". The house has the shape of "K" cut and turned in half across the middle to maximum building height to get the best views of the sea. The house was planed to paint everything red, but because of Board regulations, it becomes gray with a lot of pieces of red furniture inside.
The ground floor includes a carport, also used as a covered outdoor area, two bedrooms, a bathroom, a cellar and a storeroom. A soundproof home theater is also used to play music. The woodwork in the kitchen, pantry wall, large sliding door and the huge high ceiling shelf 'K' are all painted bright red and shiny on the first floor. Owners have collection of over 5,000 books so they need a place to store them. The owners were not afraid of esoteric design so that their holiday become very interesting and dynamic beach house.
