Modern Family Home Behind A Heritage Facade

Techne architecture designed the Fitzroy Residence, a modern house built behind a heritage facade of a property in Melbourne, Australia. The project preserves and restores the original façade, adding a rear addition with three levels of new living space. The built form meets other human and environmental factors through the court and pavilion configuration, which maximizes sunlight, ventilation, views and relations with native landscaping. The interior has been developed around the young family of customers lifestyle, incorporating many social development patterns, working and living areas as well as the integration of art and other objects in a sentimental design that exudes warmth and character.
