In keeping with the theme of the original library, the designer added shelves throughout; they define the entrance, flanking both sides of the hall, and surround the small desk in the bedroom. Many aspects of the design are quite traditional in keeping with the vintage of the house but very modern pieces laid on. Since the volume of the main space was so great library ladders at both ends of the room were integrated to provide access to high shelves. Because of the tight lot, the rooms needed to be small enough, the designer built in cabinetry helpful whenever possible, including around and under the bed A palette of jewel toned warm color is introduced into furniture and art.
